It depends. I used to not customize weapons, simply because I didn't have money to have separate weapon sets for each character so I swapped weapons between characters pretty frequently.
Now I customize most of my weapons, except for a few - like, I'm too lazy to get multiple Totem Axes, so I just share it between characters, and besides, I don't use it for damage anyway, I use it for the mods.
Caster weapons I don't customize, because if I'm not running a particular build/attribute and don't think I will for a while, I'll redistribute those weapons onto heroes that are otherwise using /bonus weapons until I decide I want them back again (still too cheap to buy weapons for heroes ).

That second it takes you to wand something is better spent actually casting spells. Because you're a spellcaster. Not a mobwander.
Mesmer: I mean, really? Would you like to miss that mob casting Aegis, MS or SF just because you were wanding? I know I wouldn't.
Monk: Prot. Heal. Kite. There is no wanding.
Necro: Hmmmm, 20 dmg with a wand or halfway through Barbs casting time to do 10x16 damage per second? Really isn't much of a choice, is it?
In conclusion - wand only to direct fire from minions, henchmen and heroes. Otherwise - cast.

Say what you will missy.
I've been in quite a few battles where my casters were behind a barrier and we'd fought to a stalemate
with... what ever. Bringing the casters around the wall to wand brought the bad guys down like rocks.
So yeah. Wanding matters.

Or of using lets say a spear on a monk when I am not playing with my paragon, but being able to give the weapon back to the paragon.
It should not be that difficult to do, and it would make my playing experience much much better.

I so wish they would do this as well. I was pretty disappointed when they allowed Opressor weapons in the HoM. I like to fill my HoM on one character only. Since then I have most of the destroyer & oppressor weapons sitting on a mule taking up space not being used cuz my Mains heroes are using the tormented's.
They changed Treasure Hunter & Wisdom titles from single character to account wide, I dont understand why they wont do this with weapons as well...

Every physical weapon I use is customized. Don't even think about PvP'ing without that 20% damage upgrade.

I customize all gear. I don't trade, so there's no point in keeping things not customized, other than giving the stuff to other characters, but all my characters are geared up, so there's no need to keep anything not customized.
I would still love to see some love for caster weapons and offhands when it comes to customization.

^ this. I don't buy or sell with other players so customising a valuable weapon (and I wouldn't know one if it hit me in the ass) doesn't matter to me. If I like it enough to keep it on my char I will customize it if i think about it.
(and yes I am very poor - but happy)

True, but considering I'm not a chimpanzee wildly flailing at my keyboard energy seldom becomes a problem.

On a physical character, always.
And on a related note, I can't stand people that spend silly amounts of gold/ecto on shiny weapons to end up using them not customized because 'they're too expensive to customize'.

Does that actually stack to 40%?
On topic, yes, I customize all weapons of mine. I believe the only ones I dont are the long swords from pre that have the crystal swordn skin. I like to make people believe I'm using a crystalline on my IW mesmer in pvp.

I have my melee weapons customized for the added damage. I have a few caster weapons customized in case of hacking - the ones I wouldn't want to lose because I like them so much. But normally, I don't bother to customize staffs and wands that are easily replaceable.

Virtually everything I own is customised, with the exception of my VS which I only use for building adrenaline so doesn't need extra damage and it may, at some point, be given to my monk.

I'll customize most of the time for physicals but don't see the point for casters. If, with today's GW, your team is performing so poorly that you need to rely on wand damage then go back to town, stop being bad and fix it.
